I chose to use glasses as a symbol of individual’s varying views of the world. My process included allowing my friends and family to pick a pair of glasses that they felt best represented their world view and they provided me an explanation for why. I worked to recreate the emotion of the subjects through color, line, composition and media. My work is connected through my choice of media and the presence of glasses in each work. Specifically the color and shape of glasses were symbolic in each piece of the peoples relationship to the world. My work evolved through my experimentation into merging different medias to convey emotion and furthering input of my artistic voice into reference photos. My color choice is especially impactful on conveying feeling in my work. I use contrasting colors to convey a subjects connection or disconnection to the outside world. Background became a crucial part of displaying individual ‘s perspectives of the world around them. Creating this concentration has allowed me to incorporate others perspectives into my life as conveyed in piece 15. Ultimately, I intend for audiences who view my work to to be allowed the opportunity to do the same.
